20 years of research

REACT therapy has been studied around the world and has appeared in over a dozen peer-reviewed scientific journals.

ExMI has also been cited in more than 2,700 citations in Google Scholar. REACT’s non-invasive bio-electric magnetic pulses stimulate muscles, nerves and tendons up to 4 inches into the muscular structure.

No other modality can claim this level of stimulation through non-invasive measures.

THE CORE OF REACT

Advanced Neuromuscular Stimulation

The neuromuscular system includes all the muscles in the body and the nerves serving them. Every movement your body makes requires communication between the brain and the muscles. The nervous system provides the link between thoughts and actions by relaying messages that travel so fast you don’t even notice, this is what occurs during a REACT treatment.

Nerves and muscles, working together as the neuromuscular system, makes your body move and function the way you want it and serve to rehabilitate the muscular system.

Nerves have cells called neurons. Neurons carry messages from the brain via the spinal cord. The neurons that
carry these messages to the muscles are called motor neurons. Each motor neuron ending sits very close to a muscle fibre.  Where they sit together is called a neuromuscular junction. The motor neurons can release a chemical, which is picked up by the muscle fibre. This tells the muscle fibre to contract, which makes the muscles move.

STRENGTH

Builds and maintains strength to post-injury muscles through deep tissue contractions.

Technology : The core technology is known as ExMI (Extracorporeal Magnetic Innervation). Method uses magnetic induction to help accelerate therapeutic treatments for muscle atrophy, pain management and vascular flow.

No Pain

Relieves the use of pain without opioids, needles, and/or E-stim pads. Get treated with your clothes on!

Non-Invasive: Magnetic pulses via table, chair and/or handheld devices that penetrate the body to induce nerve impulses causing contraction which in turn builds strength, endurance and circulation.

Recovery

Through deep stimulation of muscles, nerves and tendons, we help the body recover faster.

Multiple Uses: In acute care, rehab, LTC, consumer and athletic markets. A non-invasive tool to combat incontinence, pain, swelling, muscle atrophy and muscle reeducation in consumer, acute care and rehab environments

TREATMENT OPTIONS

Pain Management

We stimulate muscles creating new neuro- pathways for the nerves to communicate with the brain. This technique helps to alleviate pain without pharmaceuticals.

Increase Blood Flow

Due to the active contraction of the muscles, our therapy increases blood flow, brings nutrients to the damaged region and promotes healing.

Disuse Atrophy

Reduce rehabilitation and recovery time by building strength and activating muscles effected by a severe injury and/or post-surgical operation.

Range of Motion

By reducing pain, increasing blood flow and stimulating muscles, we can help to increase the range of motion that is often lost during post-injury recovery.

Senior Rehab

Building core muscle strength is critical in preventing falls among seniors. Our technology can help build strength within the abdominal, back, pelvic, gluteal and leg muscle regions.

Neuromuscular Re-Education

Patients who suffer from traumatic muscular, spinal or brain injury can benefit significantly through our tailored cross-patterning techniques.

History of magnetic induction

REACT is a complete muscle therapy system. Based on the Extracorporeal Magnetic Innervation (ExMI) technology, it is the only device utilizing this patented technique for treatment of muscles to enhance range of motion, re-education of the structure post-injury or surgery.

The technology is deep-penetrating that works by building strength and endurance within the targeted muscle structure.

ExMI is based on the fundamentals of renowned British scientist, Michael Faraday and his Law of Magnetic Induction. In the mid-1800’s, Faraday discovered that muscle contractions could be induced by the application of a time-varying magnetic field.

REACT is an elegant implementation of this basic principle.

Gradient magnetic pulses are produced by the bio-electric magnet. These fields penetrate the patient’s smooth and striated muscles, causing them to contract.

The time-varying magnetic fields create an electrical potential that causes ion flow (Eddy currents) within the targeted tissues. The musculature responds with contractions determined by the output pulse rate of the system.

When the output pulse rate exceeds that of the muscle’s ability to contract and relax with each pulse, the result is a constant and steady contraction.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

fAq’s

From a patients perspective, how does REACT work?

The treatment is painless and non-invasive.  Patients simply sit on or lie down on a REACT table with their clothes on.
Once in position, a certified operator will turn on the power supply to being treatment.  An adjustment of the settings and power intensity are performed based on the specific patient’s parameters.

How long are treatments?

There are specific protocols set to each treatment, but in general a treatment lasts between 20-30 minutes.

How many treatments are required?

Treatment volume is determined by the certified REACT specialist and will be discussed prior to treatment.  Slight muscle tightness can be cured in 1-3 visits.  Other treatments revolving around pelvic floor, stroke and post-surgical are much longer and frequent.

Does insurance cover the costs of REACT?

REACT typically covered under insurance using CPT codes 97032 and 97112.

What does the REACT treatment cost?

Cost varies based on region, but on average each treatment costs between $60-75 per treatment.  It is best to discuss pricing and packages directly with the clinic performing the treatment.

Will I feel any discomfort during treatment?

Patients will experience a level of tingling and a contraction of the pelvic floor and surrounding muscle structures.  Like most “workouts” patients may experience some soreness and muscle fatigue at the end of treatment.  This is typical within the first 2-3 weeks of the program.

Over time, the muscular structure is strengthened and new neuro-pathways are established between the brain and the treated muscle structure.  This combination generates positive long-term effects.

Are there contraindications?

We do not treat patients who have the following conditions:

  • Who are pregnant or think they may be pregnant
  • Have an implantable cardiac pacemaker or implantable cardio defibrillator
  • History of cardiac arrhythmia or atrial fibrillation (AFib)

What is the age range of patients treated?

We have treated patients as young as 2 years of age and those who are in their 90’s.
